PR: 1000 views in one month, CUBIC shows Swiss-Type Lathe on YouTube

CUBIC MACHINERY has put more of its machine videos up on YouTube—the most popular online video website.

The latest video has already garnered 1000 views after being posted for just a month. It is CUBIC’s most popular yet. The video shows CUBIC’s Swiss-type lathe (Diamond 20CSB) cutting a pagoda out of 20mm brass bar stock. The top of the pagoda has an small eyelet for a cell phone strap.

The pagoda’s octagonal shaped base is milled with the cross-working live tools. The drilling and rigid tapping operations in the middle of the video make use of the lathe’s spindle indexing capability. C-axis contouring capability is used to engrave CUBIC’s logo on the bottom face of the part.

Diamond 20CSB’s sliding headstock allows part turning and threading to take place close to the guide bushing for maximum rigidity. The enhanced rigidity makes it easy to create high-precision, complex part geometry. The entire part was created complete in one setup. This is the key advantage of Swiss-type lathes making them well suited for unattended production runs.

GTV-42 In Action

Here’s a video showing OD & ID turning, cross drilling, hex milling and threading on a piece of 1.5” bar stock on the new GTV-42.

GTV-42’s larger spindle diameter allows it to work on larger parts than the original GTV, which we now call GTV-27.
